A brief history

It was 1983 in Joplin, Missouri, when Belva Crooks first opened Mighty Melt. And what defined this new eating establishment was the signature bread recipe that Belva created to make her unique sandwiches that kept people coming back for more. 

The business expanded in 1984 with the opening of another location in Sedalia, Missouri by Ellie Wesson. This new franchise location expanded the reach of the business and was soon followed by several other locations. It’s continued to grow and thrive in Sedalia, creating four decades of memories.

Mighty Melt is known not just for it’s flagship bread and sandwiches, but also for tasty spuds, soups and salads. We’re committed to creating an experience that you’ll remember – just like a childhood memory. 

We bake our bread fresh each morning and you can smell that special scent the moment you walk in. Whether you go with the Mighty Melt Original, our signature and most popular sandwich or another of our great sandwich options, with ways to customize to your tastes we think that you’re going to love it.

After more than 40 years, we’re continuing to grow the business and are bringing you the original Mighty Melt experience with a modern day approach. Our new online-ordering make it easier than ever to order what you love from Mighty Melt quickly and from the convenience of your phone or computer. We’re also bringing you new seasonal menu highlights that feature a classic Mighty Melt twist. We’re also working to expand our footprint, so be on the lookout for new locations near you!
